What to Expect

If you want to experience Dominican Republic in a unique way, get closer to nature and enjoy a unique tropical environment. Then you don’t want to miss Monkeyland Punta Cana! This 5-acre nature sanctuary in Punta Cana will let you and your family pet, hold and interact with friendly squirrel monkeys, as well as sample locally-grown coffee and cocoa. There’s plenty of time to monkey around on this outing!

New, brightly painted safari bus will pick you up at your Punta Cana resort. Get to know your local guide on the way to a typical Dominican country plantation.

We begin the tour with the visit of a typical country house to mingle with Dominicans. Meet the local famers and hear about their organic farming methods, used to cultivate cinnamon, cacao, coffee and vanilla. Taste tropical fruit plucked freshly from the tree, and take advantage of the opportunity to purchase some of these straight-from-the-source products to take home.

After this short stop, we proceed to down a mountain road deep into the jungle. Arrive at Monkeyland, a squirrel monkey habitat managed by a dedicated staff. These charming and intelligent animals have been raised by a Canadian couple with more than 35 years of experience working with animals, including 12 years at the Toronto Zoo. They have spent years teaching monkeys to trust and enjoy the company of humans.

Though out your guide on this 45-minute tour of Monkeyland, where you’ll have the chance to watch and feed the monkeys. They come down from the trees to sit on your shoulder and eat from yours hands. You’ll have a chance to feed and pet them — they might even climb upon your shoulders to inspect you more closely. They also love to pose for the cameras, especially for selfies. Stop by the botanical garden, featuring native trees, plants and flowers, before boarding your jeep for transport back to your hotel at the end of your 5-hour tour.
